What is Annapurna Akshay Patra Yojna

Annapurna Akshay Patra Yojna is a new food scheme introduced in the Union Territory of Chandigarh jointly by the State of Punjab and Haryana. Under this scheme, the government provides food to the poor at a lower cost compared to the market. The goal of this scheme is to provide nutritious food to the poor people in Chandigarh. In this meal scheme, the government provides food for the poor people of Chandigarh at Rs.10 / – in 6 chapattis, vegetables and pickles. The main purpose of this scheme is to provide cheap, clean and nutritious food to the poor under Annapurna Akshay Patra Yojana.

Presently the target of distributing 1000 packets daily and later it will be increased to 10000 food packets every day. For this scheme, Union Territory has established a kitchen with a total cost of Rs. 70 lakhs. In the first phase in the city, food packet at 5 selected places in the vegetable market, Sector 26, Shramik Chowk, Manimajra, Shramik Chowk (near EWS Colony) Dhanas, Shramik Chowk, Ram Darbar, Labor colony number 4, industrial area etc. Will be available from 9 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. The government has decided to spend 3 lakh rupees per month for 30,000 packets and decided to spend the estimated cost of Rs. 70 lakhs for the installation of machines for cooking.

  5. With the establishment of a kitchen at a total cost of Rs. 70 lakh, the food packets at 5 selected places will be available from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
