Bhagat Puran Singh Health Insurance Scheme Punjab
The state government of Punjab has launched a cashless health insurance scheme called “Bhagat Puran Singh Health Insurance Scheme” for the Blue Card Holders (BCH) families of Punjab. Under this scheme, the government will cover Rs 50,000 per family per year and accidental death and permanent disability under Bhagat Puran Singh Bima Insurance Scheme.
This scheme includes 28.05 lakh Blue Card holders (BCH) families, 214 government and 216 private hospitals in the state can avail cashless medical facilities up to Rs 50,000. Under this scheme government has also been involved in marginal farmers, construction workers and small traders.
Bhagat Puran Singh Health Insurance Scheme provides coverage to meet the expenses of medical and surgical procedures including maternity benefits in Punjab. The main objective of this scheme is to provide protection against financial liabilities arising from financial problems related to financially vulnerable families, including recruitment to the hospital.
The State Government has started this scheme with the aim of reducing the government expenditure. To provide quality health care which protects against large pocket expenses. Providing financial protection against disease is to improve the state’s health condition.
Benefits of Bhagat Puran Singh Health Insurance Scheme
Under this health insurance scheme, the government gives benefit to marginal farmers and construction workers and small traders to the Blue Card holder (BCH) families.
The government provides cashless health insurance under the smart card of Rs. 50,000 per family per year. In case of death and permanent disability, in one family, 5 lakh per person is included in the flour dal scheme.
This plan provides one-day pre-hospital recruitment and 5 days later hospitalization benefit and covers the situation in the first place.
Beneficiaries will get cashless medical treatment in government and private hospitals listed in Punjab.
This scheme is free for the beneficiaries as the State Government leaves the entire premium as insurance registration fee of Rs 30 per family, which will be paid directly by the beneficiary.
Every time hospitalization is recruited, there is provision of transport allowance of Rs 100, with an annual limit of 1000 rupees, which will be provided by the hospital to the beneficiary at the time of discharge in cash.
Eligibility for Bhagat Puran Singh Health Insurance Scheme
- Applicant should be a resident of Punjab State.
- Applicant family should be Blue Card Holder (BCH) in Punjab.
- Under this scheme, marginal farmers, construction workers and small business characters are eligible.

- The applicant will have to go to a government hospital or private hospital associated with this insurance plan.
