On 13th January, Prime Minister of India Shree Naendra Modi has launched a crop insurance scheme called Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. The insurance cover & financial help to the farmers under the PMFBY will be provided in this scheme like crops damaged due to heavy rain, other natural disaster, pests or diseases. The scheme is being implemented across the country and farmers can avail the scheme benefits. The interested farmers can register themselves online under the PMFBY on the official website of Crop Insurance by the Department of Agriculture & Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

The total  budget estimate for flooring this project is approximately Rs 17,600 crore. A major population is straight dependent on farming and agriculture, mostly in rural areas. So, this crop scheme is very necessary to keep them in safe hand by preventing them from heavy loses during natural disaster. Most farmers take loan for buying agriculture seeds fertilizers, pesticides but some natural disaster like floods, draught, fire, pest attack etc and destroy the crop. Farmer choose the path of suicides because they are unable to take burden of loss. So, to resolve the problem of unpredictable nature of farming and prevent farmer suicides in the country PMFBY is launchjed.

The Government launched Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in early 2016. It’s a crop insurance policy with relaxed premium rates on the principal sum insured for farmers. Implemented with a budget of Rs 17,600 crore, this scheme will provide financial support to farmers and cover for their losses. This initiative is expected to go on floors from the next Kharif season of farming, that is from June 2016.

Premium for Fasal Bima Yojana has been brought down significantly by the government to 2 percent for Kharif and 1.5 percent or the sum insured for Rabi crops. The interested farmers can register themselves online under the PMFBY on the official website of Crop Insurance by the Department of Agriculture & Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

  • Bank details to receive PMFBY policy amount directly into bank accounts.
  • After submit, farmer get a application number through they can track their application in future.
