A great step taken by Rajasthan’s state social welfare department has pick up with a yojana to provide family environment fro growing orphans who are living in state-run orphanages. In Rajasthan Palanhar Yojana, families who are interested , issueless couples or relatives of orphaned children will be encouraged to take the duty of raising these children. And they would get wages in return.
Since the procedure of undertaking the orphans in state-run orphanages has not showd very successful, the social welfare department has marked to introduce the new scheme (yojana). According to social welfare minister Madan Dilawar, each family which takes the duty or raising a child would get Rs 675 per month and an additional Rs 2,000 every year. This incentive is expected to uplift the families who are willing to raise children but do not take the duty for financial reasons, the minister said.
Preference would be given to relatives and acquaintances and each family would get the assistance till the child turns 18. No family would be allowed to take more than two children but care would be taken to see to it that siblings are not separated.
